Applicants to Royal Holloway come from a diverse range of backgrounds and we accept a broad range of qualifications to our courses. Each applicant is considered carefully on their individual merits, but please see below for the standard minimum entry requirements for students from France.
Undergraduate
French Baccalaureate
Most of our undergraduate courses consider an average grade of 13 - 14. Specific grades are required for some courses, they can be found in the course finder entry for your chosen course.
A Levels & International Baccalaureate (IB)
Requirements can be found in the course finder entry for your chosen course.

Undergraduate students applications are made online via UCAS.
Postgraduate
Master's (Magister)
If you have successfully completed a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate subject with good grades/GPA, you will be considered for our programmes. Most departments will ask for a Licence with grade 12 or Maitrise (pre-Bologna) with grade 11.
Research Degree (MPhil/PhD)
If you have successfully completed a Master's degree in an appropriate subject with good grades/GPA, you will be considered for our programmes. Most departments will ask for a Licence with grade 12 or Maitrise (pre-Bologna) with grade 11.

English language requirements
To apply to any of our courses, you need to prove a minimum level of English language proficiency.
Students with a 12 in the English components of the French Baccalaureate will be considered for exemption from IELTS / TOEFL requirements.
Students who do not quite make the English language requirements may be able to take a pre-sessional English language programme.
Fees and scholarships
Royal Holloway EU Undergraduate Scholarship 2025
We currently offer a tuition fee reduction of £1,000 for EU national undergraduate students. The scholarship is applied automatically to eligible students. Please read further details here

You could be eligible for one of our other undergraduate or postgraduate scholarships.
