Applying online is quick and easy, whichever stage of study you’re at. Find out below how you can apply to live in one of our on-campus halls of residence.
Undergraduate accommodation
If you're planning to join us in September as an undergraduate student, you can apply for accommodation from 10am (UK time) on Monday 24 March using our online accommodation system. You'll be able to select the exact room you want to stay in (or if you prefer you can just make a preference and we'll find the best match for you).
You're guaranteed an offer of a place in halls if you make us your firm choice and apply for accommodation by 14 July.
Things to consider when making an application
While getting prepared in advance can help you feel more organised, it’s not essential to secure an offer of a room and you can feel reassured that you don’t need to rush into choosing Royal Holloway as your firm choice. We’ll be releasing a balanced number of rooms from each of our halls on the dates below, to make sure all applicants have the opportunity to book the room type they’d prefer.
Rooms will be released at 10am (UK time) on:
- 24 March
- 14 April
- 12 May
- 9 June
Please remember that once you’ve booked a specific room, you won’t be able to change your mind, even if another room you prefer becomes available later. Be sure to carefully consider your options before finalising your reservation!
How to apply if you're a....
Undergraduate student (including Integrated Foundation Year)
Once you've made Royal Holloway your firm choice, you'll be able to register for an account on the Online Accommodation System. Please note, it can take up to 48 hours after you’ve accepted your offer before you can register.
Our application window runs from 24 March (10am) to 14 July (10am) when you’ll be able to select the exact room you want to live in. To confirm your room you’ll need to accept a contract and pay a £300 pre-payment* to secure it.
If you don’t want to choose a specific room, or you apply outside the accommodation window then you will still be able to make a preference for your favourite hall of residence.
All new undergraduate students are guaranteed an offer of a room if you apply by our deadline of 14 July.

International Postgraduate taught student
Once you've made Royal Holloway your firm choice, you'll be able to register for an account on the Online Accommodation System. Please note, it can take up to 48 hours after you’ve accepted your offer before you can register.
Our application window runs from 17 February (10am) to 14 July (10am) when you’ll be able to select the exact room you want to live in. To confirm your room you’ll need to accept a contract and pay a £300 pre-payment* to secure it.
If you don’t want to choose a specific room, or you apply outside the accommodation window then you will still be able to make a preference for your favourite hall of residence.
All international taught postgraduate students are guaranteed an offer of a room if you apply by our deadline of 14 July.

Home (UK) postgraduate taught student or postgraduate research student
Once you've made Royal Holloway your firm choice, you'll be able to register for an account on the Online Accommodation System. Please note, it can take up to 48 hours after you’ve accepted your offer before you can register.
You’ll be able to apply for accommodation from 17 February (10am). We’ll be in touch within 5 working days to let you know if we’re able to offer you a room.

International Foundation Year student
This information is for students studying with the Royal Holloway International Study Centre on an International Foundation Year or International Year One programme.
Once you've made Royal Holloway your firm choice, you'll be able to register for an account on the Online Accommodation System. Please note, it can take up to 48 hours after you’ve accepted your offer before you can register.
